Concrete strategies to get the most out of attending Mobile World Congress. From preparation to follow-up.
After years of attending MWC, I have developed a framework to maximize return on investment. Here are my tips.
Before the Event
Define Clear Objectives
- Number of target contacts
- Companies to meet
- Sessions to follow
Prepare Materials
- Updated pitch deck
- One-pager about your company
- Pre-organized meeting calendar
During the Event
Daily Strategy
- Morning: Keynotes and sessions
- Lunch: Networking (restaurants inside Fira are ideal)
- Afternoon: One-to-one meetings
- Evening: Side events
Time Management
Don't try to see everything. Better to do fewer things but do them well.
After the Event
Immediate Follow-up
- Email within 48 hours
- LinkedIn connection
- Scheduling of follow-up calls
Success Metrics
- Number of qualified meetings
- Opportunities generated
- Partnerships started
Expected ROI
From my experience:
- Average cost of participation: €3,000-5,000 (flight + hotel + ticket)
- Average value of opportunities generated: €50,000+ in the following 12 months
MWC always pays off, if approached strategically.
