Web Summit 2024 was a turning point year for BusinessLabs. In this article I want to share my personal experience and the lessons I learned.
The Meetings That Made the Difference
This year I had the opportunity to meet:
- Paddy Cosgrave - Founder of Web Summit, with whom I discussed the future of the European tech ecosystem
- Various European VCs - Interested in the Italian market
- Founders of complementary startups - With whom we are developing partnerships
The Most Interesting Sessions
AI for eCommerce
A session dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence in e-commerce. Main takeaway: AI won't replace salespeople, but salespeople who use AI will replace those who don't.
Sustainability in Tech
Sustainability is no longer a nice-to-have. Consumers (and investors) demand it.
European Tech Independence
A hot topic: how Europe can compete with the US and China.
Lessons Learned
- Preparation is everything: The most productive meetings were those organized in advance
- Follow-up is crucial: 90% of the value materializes after the event
- Quality over quantity: Better 5 meaningful meetings than 20 superficial ones
Conclusions
Web Summit remains the most important tech event in Europe. If you're an entrepreneur or manager in digital, you should attend at least once.
